Photographing with Sylvie Blum
Last year, we had the privilege to meet Sylvie Blum. She has worked for over 10 years as a model with internationally known photographers like Helmut Newton, Andreas Bitesnich, Conrad Godly, Jeanloup Sieff, Jan Saudek... and many many more before she picked up the camera and started her career as a photographer in fine art, fashion, beauty and glamour. She has published 4 Art books in Europe and has produced in Miami, Paris, Vienna, Athens, Berlin and Capetown. Her favorite cities are L.A. and Miami. Sylvie relocated to the US from Germany in 2005. "My whole life I'm thinking in pictures. When I see a person I always imagine how I would shoot the picture. It is my obsession and passion to tell stories with my camera and find beautiful people which are part of my work."

Last weekend we went to visit Sylvie and photograph with her at her whitebox studio. The studio is a wonderful modern space with tall ceilings, skylights, a pool and plenty of room to move and be creative.
When we travel to Los Angeles we always stay with our good friends, Ed and Sandy Martin. Ed in the above photo with Kim used to be a cinematographer that is now a still photographer, he creates fabulous colorful photographs mainly using flowers, seeds and objects he finds in his surroundings and then places them on his scanner to make the image. You can read his fascinating bio, and see the work that he creates on his website www.martingallery.com.
We had a fabulous time and hope to return soon. More to come from Kim's point of view.......
